Join the Irish Professional Private Investigators Association

Membership of the Irish Professional Private Investigators Association (IPPIA) offers recognition, credibility, and a network of trusted professionals committed to upholding the highest standards in the private investigations industry.


By joining IPPIA, you become part of a community that supports professional excellence, promotes ethical conduct, and represents the interests of investigators across Ireland and beyond.

Purpose and Objectives

“To uphold and promote the highest standards of integrity, compliance, and competence within the private investigation profession in Ireland.”


  • Represent the interests of private investigators in Ireland.
  • Advocate with the Private Security Authority (PSA) and other relevant bodies.
  • Promote professional standards, ethics, and continuing education.
  • Provide opportunities for networking, mutual support, and knowledge-sharing.
  • Uphold and enforce the IPPIA Code of Ethics as the benchmark for professional behaviour.

Membership Categories

Full Member 

Open to PSA-licensed private investigation contractors based in Ireland.


Associate Member

Open to PSA-licensed employees of licensed contractors based in Ireland.


Overseas Member

Open to licensed or recognised private investigators based outside Ireland who support the objectives of IPPIA.

Applying for Membership

Applicants are required to complete the official membership application form and pay the annual membership fee.


Membership fees for each category are set and reviewed annually at the IPPIA Annual General Meeting (AGM).


Full Member €100

Associate Member €50

Overseas Member €100


Overseas applicants must provide evidence of professional status or licensing/registration in their jurisdiction.

Member Rights

Full Members

Have voting rights and are eligible for election to the IPPIA Committee.


Associate Members

May attend meetings and take part in Association activities but do not have voting rights or eligibility for Committee positions.


Overseas Members

May attend meetings, receive communications, and participate in events but do not have voting rights or eligibility for Committee positions.

Termination of Membership

Membership may be withdrawn by the Committee if a member:

  • Breaches the IPPIA Constitution or Code of Ethics, or
  • Fails to pay annual membership fees.
