The Irish Professional Private Investigators Association (IPPIA) is the national representative body for licensed private investigators operating throughout the Republic of Ireland and beyond. We are committed to promoting excellence, professionalism, and ethical standards within the investigative sector.
Whether you’re an experienced investigator, a newcomer to the profession, or a member of the public seeking information, IPPIA serves as your trusted source of support, guidance, and representation.
“To uphold and promote the highest standards of integrity, compliance, and competence within the private investigation profession in Ireland.”
We work to:
A respected, transparent, and highly professional private investigations industry in Ireland, recognised for its ethical conduct and commitment to justice and privacy.
Founded in response to the introduction of mandatory licensing under the Private Security Authority (PSA), IPPIA was established to give licensed investigators a collective voice. Our founding members recognised the need for a standards-based, supportive association that reflects the values of accountability, legality, and discretion.
We operate on a non-profit basis, with all income reinvested into the growth, training, and support of our membership.
The association is governed by an elected Committee of licensed investigators:
Each committee member serves a three-year term and is bound by the same ethical and professional standards as all members.
IPPIA does not just serve investigators, we also safeguard the public interest. Through our Code of Ethics, membership criteria, and transparent complaints process, we ensure that our members uphold the trust placed in them.
